Dear Founder,
The journey you are on is daunting.
The risk, the sacrifice, the weight of responsibility, the endless decisions, and the constant pressure to succeed – it can all feel suffocating at times.
You pour your heart and soul into building and creating, all with this nagging feeling that so many things need to be fixed.
You read books, listen to podcasts, and scroll through LinkedIn, hoping to find the answers. There must be a person, a company, or a playbook somewhere out there that has the magic answer, right?
But the reality is far more complex.
You can read all the business books on the shelf and endlessly seek advice from advisors, but there is no one-size-fits-all playbook for building a successful business. Each journey is unique, shaped by countless variables, unpredictable twists, and a whole lot of luck.
While learning from others is no doubt valuable, ultimately, the most important voice you need to listen to is your own. I’m not suggesting you should ignore advice or dismiss the wisdom of others who have gone before you. In fact, I believe you should surround yourself with a trusted circle of peers who can offer you guidance and support along the way. But be sure to always filter insights through the lens of your own experience and intuition.
Only you have that special combination of past experiences, subconscious processing, and emotional cues that give you an extremely powerful advantage. You must trust your intuition. No one understands your business, your vision, and your values better than you do.
Quiet the noise around you and listen to that inner voice. Don’t overlook the power of your instincts in a world that will always be pushing you to be data-driven.
Embrace the autonomy that comes with entrepreneurship and have confidence in your ability to chart your own course.
To do things your own way.
And that constant feeling of uncertainty? Yep, I’ve got it too. It’s normal. It will never go away. This is part of what you are signing up for as a founder. You must be determined, and you must never give up. No one can do this for you.
Building a business is inherently risky. There are no guarantees of success. But it's precisely this uncertainty that makes the journey so rewarding and fun.
Embrace the challenges, learn from your failures, and keep pushing forward.
So, dear founder, remember this: no one is coming to save you, and you know what? That’s okay because you have everything you need within you to succeed.
Yours in the arena,
– Abigail
